Air Plate Matte by Agnieszka Bar
Unique Air Plate designed by Agnieszka Bar. Objects of AIR Collection are made in my own unique method using combination of blowing and pressing techniques in hot glass technology. To show the essence of air movement, I wiped the gloss leyer off the surface of glass objects and letf it matte.
Size: 29 x 8,5 cm
Artsist note: The concept I established is in reference to the old tradition of Kashubia region of Poland – where people use wicker to protects the edges of lakes, and protecting homes against water and moisture. This clever craft of plaiting today is almost forgotten. I used the natural features of the willow to keep an authentic handmade wicker patterns in hot glass matter. Wicker mould is plaited by braider-craftman and is disposable and serves to depress one vessel. As a result of high temperature of glass - wicker works deforms and burns, leaving its charm on the glass surface. It's a beautiful metaphor of transformation, when the organique and unique character of each glass vessel comes from flexibility of wicker plait and hands freedom.
