Mandy’s approach is a constant search for balance, harmony and the desire to honor clay in the simplest way possible. Centered around three pillars of Asian culture, her work is usually dedicated to the ceremonies of tea (cha-do), incense(who-do), and flowers (ikebana).
Every piece is made to encourage daily moments.
About Artist
Chinese by heritage, Mandy’s ceramics is a reflection of her roots combined with a London grace and identity. her work is inspired by the ancient rituals, history and wisdom of the East, adapted for modern day lifestyle and aesthetics.
A former magazine editor and stylist in men’s fashion and grooming. Mandy began her journey making ceramics during an artist residency in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China. She immersed herself in clay in all its entirety: with material, as an art, in its history as well as its cultural context. Inspired, her journey continued to Japan where she had the privilege to practice intensively under the tutelage of a 12th generation master potter learning ceramics the Japanese way.
